TOGETHER WITH PACASO

Big investors are buying this “unlisted” stock

When the founder who sold his last company to Zillow for $120M starts a new venture, people notice. That’s why the same VCs who backed Uber, Venmo, and eBay also invested in Pacaso.

Disrupting the real estate industry once again, Pacaso’s streamlined platform offers co-ownership of premier properties, revamping the $1.3T vacation home market.

And it works. By handing keys to 2,000+ happy homeowners, Pacaso has already made $110M+ in gross profits in their operating history.

Now, after 41% YoY gross profit growth last year alone, they recently reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.

TOPIC
5 ways to get instant job notifications

September is right around the corner, which means 2 things.

  1. The Fall semester is about to start

  2. Recruitment season is about to start

This is the time to start preparing for the job market.

And by preparing, I mean setting up a system that let’s you apply to jobs ASAP.

Studies show that applying within hours of posting, not days, can significantly boost your chances.

To be specific, Indeed finds that responding within 24 hours makes you 4.1× more likely to get hired and 6.7× more likely to get an interview.

It’s clear that winning this job market isn’t only about networking, it’s being fast enough to get noticed.

Here are 5 things I would do to set myself up for success before September rolls in.

1. Get a birds eye view of hiring timeline

First, I’d learn which months certain industries hire.

Consulting, finance, and tech roles tend to hire early, whereas marketing or non-profits start later on.

Here are 2 graphs you can refer to for all major industry hiring windows.

Links included.

2. Leverage student clubs at school

If there’s one thing I regret from University, it’s not joining student clubs earlier.

Forget career hubs, student associations are in my opinion, the best way to get notified of career opportunities.

  • Networking events

  • Company panels

  • Socials

You name it, they’ll post it.

If I was going back to school this Fall, I’d be joining every student club relevant to my target industry.

Accounting? → The Accounting Club

High Finance? → The Trading Club

Etc.

Then, I’d sign up for their WhatsApp group, Instagram, and anywhere else they communicate.

3. Set up smart job alerts on popular platforms

Don’t get lost in the sauce and think you have to subscribe to 10 different job boards.

I’d stick to the ones with the most online traffic: LinkedIn, and Google.

LinkedIn recently updated their job search:

You now get preset search suggestions. Click on one and play around with the filters.

Once satisfied, toggle that “Get job alerts” message at the bottom on to receive weekly updates.

Google also launched a career profile a few months ago.

Just type in Google careers, navigate to “Your Career” at the bottom left, and create a profile.

I did this yesterday to test it out, it only takes 2 minutes max.

Having alerts on both LinkedIn and Google will set you up to catch all the new job alerts you need.

4. Subscribe to company career sites

This step is optional, but nice to have.

Let’s assume I know exactly where I want to work.

For example, I know I want to get into consulting so my targets are the big 4 firms:

Deloitte, KPMG, EY, and PWC.

I would create an account on each of their career sites, and set up alerts there.

It’s basically what we did in step 3, but laser-focused.

5. Follow recruiters directly on LinkedIn

If you haven’t noticed, most recruiters post new jobs on LinkedIn.

But how can we know at what exact times they’ll post?

That’s where bell notifications come in.

Whenever you follow a profile, a bell icon pops up on the top right under their banner.

Don’t just click on it then forget it though.

Bell notifications tell you when a person posts, but there’s 2 different levels:

You’re gonna want to select “All” to make sure you don’t miss anything.

I’d look for at 1 or 2 new recruiters/hiring manger each day to follow each to slowly expand my network web.

And that’s it! Complete these 5 steps before the end of August, and you’ll be ready to crush September.

Don’t forget to network too, of course 🙂

That’s all for today. If you enjoyed this post, share it with a friend!
